East Window Light: Three Things to Know
Direct sun is brief
An east-facing window in Warsaw or Kraków receives direct sun for roughly two to four hours after sunrise, depending on the time of year. By mid-morning that direct beam has moved past the window plane.
Intensity changes by season
In June, morning sun reaches Polish east-facing windows at a high angle and with greater intensity. In December, the low arc of the sun means even less direct exposure reaches the interior of a room.
Reflected light extends the day
After direct sun moves away, east-facing rooms continue to receive bright indirect light from the sky and from surfaces outside the window. This indirect light is sufficient for a wide range of plants.
